Over and Over
To set the scene: We are in drama. It’s a cool day. Everyone has spread out to work on our Drama Collage thingy. We sit at the back on this table thing. Our group, me, Meg, Kirk and Jaz decide to tell Mrs Leah the ideas that we have come up with. She likes them. She’s a very eccentric character, so she starts going crazy and dancing around like usual. Then she informs us of a song that she thinks would be perfect for our finial episode of life and death. She gets her computer out and goes into youtube. First she shows us “Waiting for ____” (I forgot that bit, but it started with ‘G’) then the song that she thought was appropriate. The whole time i have had ‘Over and Over’ by Hot Chip stuck in my head. “Oh Miss, is it okay if i show my group a song which i think would be perfect for one of our episodes”. She seems fine with it. Then some of the boys start wrestling so she goes to sort that out. The computer is hijacked. I Youtube the song and show everyone. I also point out the fat guy to Meg and Jaz who looks like the percussion guy from Mackay. They see the resemblance and laugh. Then, Leah approaches;
“What’s this?” she askes
“Oh. It’s this song. I though we could use it causee….” I reply, stuck for words.
“This is a wonderful example of Absurdism Sam! Listen to the lyrics, “over and over and over and over.” Yes. Definatly absurdism. And repetition is a bit part of un-realistic theatre. And look and this filmclip. HA. They’re getting up to some crazy stuff. Definatly absurdism.”
“Ahhhh. Yeah. I was just showing them how it’s absurdism.”
“That’s good. It’s great to see how absurdism is still effecting modern life now. This is an amazing example! And it’s even greater to see that you’ve been listening in class and learning. Good work Sam!”
She leaves.
I was dumbfounded.
At least she likes Hot Chip.
Hahahah that’s epic.
Hot Chip is ALWAYS relivant.
